Paddy's Milestone (Felted Piece)

Paddy's Milestone is the affectionate local name for Ailsa Craig, the distinctive granite island that rises from the Firth of Clyde off the Ayrshire coast. For generations it has been a familiar landmark for sailors, walkers and those who have grown up along Scotland's west coast.

Created from layers of hand-felted Merino wool, this original textile artwork celebrates the island as the setting sun transforms the sea and sky into rich copper, amber and crimson tones. Rather than capturing every detail, the natural fibres allow colour and texture to convey the atmosphere of the moment, reflecting the enduring presence of this much-loved Scottish landmark.
